For the record I hate hate hate hate HATE country music. So I was pretty skeptical when going to Whiskey Road. The food is pretty decent, standard bar and grill type food. Their karaoke nights a good because they outsource it to a local entertainment so you got guys that actually know what they're doing when it comes to music and sound. One big thing I like about this place is it's clean. Your average bar on a Friday or Saturday the bathrooms and some of the main areas look destroyed and messy, but here it's been clean all around everytime I've went. The bar has a charm to it that made it easy for a guy like me who just loathes country to look past that. My only criticism isn't the country music because they do have a digital jukebox for you to play your own music, but they have a small gaming area on the far side of the bar that looks and feels somewhat disconnected from the bar, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just for me if I'm playing darts or something I like to be closer to the bar just so my group and I aren't forgettable when staff is going around asking if we need any more drinks. Not that it has happened here, but I prefer to be closer and they don't have a pool table or anything so it's not like people getting in the way would be an issue. I highly ranked recommend checking out Whiskey Road even if country music isn't your cup of tea, the charm of this place, fun times to had, and a playable jukebox will make you look past that and have a great time.

It's a little rustic but nice. College town brings in a lot of young kids. Makes it fun. Good service. Quite a few veggie options. The chips with the black bean quasodillas are so good! They make them fresh there. Small on tap selection.
(4)Mike S.
Easily the top place to go in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. The food is spectacular for the price point, the whiskey is top notch, and they always have great beer on tap. The staff is always amazing and if something gets messed up, Kyle or Ryan come out to fix things immediately. This will be a special place for the Cedar Valley, hopefully, for years. For the person who gave this place a 1-star review because you were informed there would be a long wait - you're joking, right? As my grandfather always told me - there are reasons there are waits at some restaurants - and reasons there aren't at others.

Food: 3, Whiskey Bar: 5. Ordered a double angus (grass fed was an option) burger (Habanero cheese, Sautéed Onions, Spinach, Tomato, Bacon, Pepper Mayo), fries, and pretzel loaf with whiskey cheese dip. The food was well presented though its taste was pretty average. The pretzel loaf was not as "pretzel-y" as one would expect. I would like to explore the vegetarian options on a return trip as the selection looked tasty. The Whiskey Bar on the other hand was exemplary. The selection and price are great, especially for the area, and the regional choices were a great feature (alas, I chose a Macallan 12 year, neat). Main St. strikes me as having better food options but if your primary focus is good whiskey or even a good beer, this is a great place to stop.

I loved the atmosphere and the staff was pleasant; however, the food was horribly bland! This restaurant has so much potential! It could easily be my favorite place in the Cedar Valley if they would just season their food! I had the wild rice turkey burger and french fries - all was flavorless. I really wanted to love this place, but can't. The portions were a little small, but I am perfectly fine with that as long as the food is good, which it was not.
(2)Jennifer E.
The chipotle chicken pasta was delicious. It was very flavorful with fresh peppers and onions. The bar has many, many different whiskeys to try.
(4)Judy H.
Very nice atmosphere prompt service and good food. The menu has several vegetarian options. Hand cut skin on fries were nice and crisp. Nice lunch spot downtown. There are three TVs on sports stations and background music yet none is over powering. You are able have a conversation with your table mates
(5)Heather Z.
This is an amazing renovation of a space that was a little tired. IMHO this kinda shores up the efforts around invigorating the amazing Cedar Falls downtown ;). The owner Kyle and GM Ryan were amazing! This is going to be my bar/restaurant of choice when I am in town with the in-laws!
(5)Kayla V.
Ambience & atmosphere are beautiful, but the food was bland. I was disappointed, but the varieties of whiskey & drinks helped ;)

Underwhelming service. Seems they cater to people that "matter" in Cedar Falls. After waiting 30 minutes for a table, and after we were seated, we were asked to give up our table for a different family. The food is underwhelming at best. Have eaten there at least 5 times and have not been impressed with the food. Best I can say is that their ribs are very good.
(2)Joy B.
The food here is amazing love the ribs and cheesy potatoes. The portion sizes are huge. The restaurant is family friendly even though it is a bar. My only complaint was the noise level. I would recommend calling ahead for a seat space is limited.
(4)Robalee D.
We were in town for a family event and came here on a recent Friday night. The manager (Mike) had been quite helpful making reservations, since there were 16 in our party (2 tables of 8, up on "the stage"). Our server, Gabe, was very capable, patient, and effective. The food variety was amazing, and everything was delicious, with everyone's tastes satisfied. We are all from out of town, otherwise we'd be back soon.
(5)Rachel D.
Eh wasn't impressed, it's so loud in there is hard to enjoy your dinner. Food was OK but spendy for what you get.
(2)John B.
Very, very, very, salty food. That about some up my experience there. This was my first time, my wife's 4th. More about that later. I got a simple pulled pork sandwich. The wife a turkey Ruben. The pulled pork was good, nothing to write home about, nothing to diss, just good. But the bun (homemade/fresh baked?), SALTY! I was amazed at how salty a bun could be. You know that one dish you judge restaurants by, that one dish that is your favorite for that type of restaurant, and if they can't get that right why bother coming back? Well mine is the Ruben. I tried the wife's turkey Ruben, worse than the pulled pork bun. I swear by the amount of salt we digested during our meal that we were at Applebee's. Now, Is Whiskey Road to be know for their sandwiches? I don't believe so. I think they are more of a BBQ joint that specializes in Whiskey? Don't most BBQ joints have amazing sandwiches? So should they have not nailed the Reuben? I don't know ... So, this restaurant baffles me. I have heard nothing but glowing reviews from anyone who has gone there. My wife was impressed on her first trip there, the first month they opened. And has since become less and less impressed on each subsequent visit. She has said that the menu has changed or sort of got downgraded from this fantastic alternative to this run of the mill standard bar restaurant, almost. I say almost because some of the dishes they prepare are amazing looking combinations that do not exist here on Main St. Unlike most chain restaurant and standard bar food fair available up and down main street, Whiskey Road started out as something special, a stand out bar whose food options where above reproach. But then something happened. I don't know what and I don't know when, but it did. Because they started out with such high regard, and because I have only had one and a half plates of food there, I will return and try at least one more time to see what all the fuss is about. I imagine getting the rack of ribs to see if this is really what they are about. If it is, and it is great, then I will adjust my rating appropriately and add an addendum to this review. But until then, I can not give Whiskey Road more than 2 stars just for the mere fact of how damn salty the meals were.
(2)Maggie H.
Went here only once, but it is amazing! Their breaded tenderloin is delicious and HUGE for the price you pay! Facility looks fairly small on the outside, but once you enter, feels much larger! Great service and delicious food. What more could you want?
(5)Monkey B.
The service was sub par, they messed up my drink order, the pork was cold. The side were tasty but for the money there are better places to eat just down the street. Also the room is very loud.
(2)Craig J.
This place is setting the new standard for restaurants to follow. The chefs actually use their skills to cook, not warm up prepared foods. Everything is made from scratch including the sandwich buns. And here is the real kicker, the prices are reasonable
(5)Michael M.
Don't be fooled by the outside of this Main Street restaurant. The biker bar facade is deceiving. Inside is a clean, lively restaurant and bar. Great for friends, or family. The menu covers a range of choices. From custom burgers made with Grass fed or Angus beef to, soup salads, and entrees. We had the Angus burger, the fajitas, the crab cakes and the delicious fries. The side salad was fresh and contained a variety of vegetables. The blue cheese dressing had chucks of blue cheese. The fajita had perfectly grilled chicken, peppers and onions accompanied by chips, guacamole and season nacho chips. Most importantly it came with more tortillas than we needed. Most restaurants give you three and it's never enough. The burger were terrific, juicy, perfectly grilled and on a great bun. A great burger can be ruined by a bad bun. Not at Whiskey Junction. Portion sizes were generous. Plenty of sides to share. This is a great spot.
(4)Richard B.
First time there it was awesome had to smother patty melt and the cheesy hash browns were to die for they were never taste anything like them it was good everybody liked their meal it was awesome will come back when I'm in the area ,
(4)Pat M.
Great food, great service, very busy with no delayed wait. This crew works hard to provide you with a great experience. I travel 60% and very rarely do I find a place like this in the mid-west. I am impressed!
(5)Shirley N.
Awesome breaded fried cod! RIBEYE STEAK very GOOD.. Baked potatoes average semi hard..kinda cold..salad needs more lettuce..croutons blah.. ranch dressing tasted weird..would try again...service was excellent!
(5)Sean B.
What a fantastic find! I was in from out of town and decided to stop here for lunch (so glad I did) tomato basil soup is some of the best I have had and paired perfectly with the wild rice turkey burger
(5)Shantel K.
I went here tonight with my family, and we all loved it! We had garlic edamame and the pretzel bread as appetizers, and both were delicious. I'm a big fan of edamame, and that appetizer was some of the best edamame I've had. Out of us four, we had the open face turkey sandwich, ribeye, smoked salmon wrap, and the pulled pork sandwich. I tried a bite of everyone's meal, and it was also all delicious. However, I got the smoked salmon wrap, and it was a bit too smokey tasting for my liking. For dessert, we shared the filled donuts. SO GOOD. I actually forgot to take a picture of them because I was so eager to try one after the waitress told us how good they were! Our waitress was also terrific. Overall, I highly recommend Whiskey Road.
(5)Nichole W.
First visit tonight. I had the pork medallions, and, like other reviewers, I thought they were tasty, but dry. My dad had the filet which he thought was great, but a little on the dry side. My boyfriend had the ribs. You know what I'm going to say, a bit dry. I still want to go back because they have a lot of interesting menu choices and I'm willing to give them a second chance. Mentioned our issues to the server and he seemed very open to criticisms and interested in fixing any issues. Other than that, drinks were great, salad was great, au gratin potatoes were delicious.
(4)Melissa N.
I tried to take my parents out my last night in town and we tried to give this place a shot. Unfortunately, we were informed at the door that the place was reservation only and that since we didn't have one it would be a 2 hour wait. In my opinion this is a terrible way to get the word out about your new business, especially not in Iowa. I don't think it would unreasonable to have certain tables set aside for walk in traffic. Additionally, they need to do more to make the fact that you need a reservation clear to the public (the host very rudely informed us that we "should have gone to their website, it's posted there").
(1)Kendal A.
Despite the smaller portions (I got the cod fish plate), as well as a server AND bartender who had no idea what a snifter was (this place does serve alcohol, right?), this is a decent place to go for food and drink. It's an open-air establishment with lots of big-screen tvs, so no intimate conversations here (of course, you wouldn't expect that in a restaurant called "Whiskey Road", would you?). A varied menu, a nice selection of beers (get the Green Flash IPA on draught if you like hoppy brews), and of course a plethora of different brands of whiskey available gives patrons lots of choices. Some of the sides are questionable (brown rice), but others are tasty, so ask the wait staff which ones are asked for over and over. Given they educate their servers a bit more and tweak their menu a little, this place could easily become a Cedar Falls Main Street favorite for a long time.
(3)Jay J.
This used to be my Grandpa Nicks old bar but has gone through many changes since then. As for Whiskey Road, I'm sure the whiskey is good but the food and price suck. Good was cold and not too tasty. Hopefully that changes. I have heard about the food before visiting but had to try it for myself. Probably will never go back.
(1)Erin M.
Whiskey Road has become our go to restaurant since it opened last fall. The food is consistently delicious and well prepared, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is great. Everything on the menu is made there in the restaurant - there aren't any frozen or pre made dishes. If you're looking for appetizers, the spring rolls, deep fried pickles, chicken legs, and pretzel bread and dip are amazing. As far as entrees are concerned, you cannot beat the turkey and mashed potatoes / cauliflower open-faced meal. If you like tenderloins, those are gigantic and tasty, but my favorite is the French Dip sandwich. Also on the not to miss list are the blue cheese augratin potatoes, and you have to try the stuffed donuts for dessert. They are delicious! As you can see, we had several meals there, and not a bad one yet! If you're going on a weekend night, be sure to call for reservations first.
(5)Clyde H.
First impressions are important and Whiskey Road does a fine job meeting your expectations. While the overall prices may be a turn off for some in the area, the portions and quality justify the price in comparison with the area's corporate competition. Being a new restaurant, the place was spotless and in excellent condition and the staff was upbeat, helpful, and friendly. Good options for the vegetarian in your life and an even better selection for any whiskey lover. This place receives an initial five stars. Hopefully this establishment can maintain its ability to be an outstanding local business for years to come.
(5)Gene H.
My wife had wild rice turkey burger with bacon potato salad. She said her burger was ok. The potato salad was excellent. My French dip was average at best. Too much bun not enough meat on the French dip. Won't order that again. There's probably 3 or 4 other sandwich places around here I would rate higher than this place. The place was just ok.
(3)Ashley S.
Whiskey Road is truly a hidden gem. I would have never thought of eating there for dinner until a friend made us a reservation. It did not disappoint! We started with the Bacon Wrapped Poppers, which disappeared quickly. We each decided to order an Angus burger with different toppings, and they were mouth-watering and came with a perfectly crispy bun and delicious hand-cut fries. We ended with the rhubarb apple crisp (must order with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, yum!) and could tell it was homemade.
(5)Kristina P.
We were with a group and the food came to the table with varying temperatures. Steak seamed like a good choice for an entree. My only real complaint is that the waitstaff and bartenders were not very knowledgeable about their whiskey and beer selection---surprising for a place called whiskey road.
(4)Robert E.
Great food and service. What more could you ask for! You should call for resevations. They are pretty busy right now. If you walk in they will get you seated as soon as they can. Food is also available at the bar.
(4)Mare M.
went saturday night....nothing tasted good. 7 ppl said there food was nothing special. not giving them a 3rd chance, u shouldn't either. too bad cf needed somewhere good.
(1)Corey P.
Superb food and service. Our table had: Ribeye: great flavor and done as ordered. Cheesy potatoes. Great flavor. Ribs: Meaty and done right. Excellent flavor. Fries: Fresh cut. Tasted awesome. Tenderloin: big with great flavor breaded right. Reasonably priced and great service. Highly Recommended!!
(5)Rachel D.
Four stars for having lots of local products at the bar and in the menu. They really did a great job with the space. The service was fantastic. Plus, as you may realize from the name, there is a ton of whiskey to try if you are a whiskey connoisseur, again with an entire page devoted to Iowa whiskeys. As far as food, it was pretty good. I'd recommend the chicken bacon lasagna. It's definitely a cool space to check out more than once!
(4)Ashleigh D.
Such an amazing renovation, I'm so glad to see a nice looking business move into this location. I've been here about 3 times and each time have tried something different. 1st off, the chicken noodle soup is amazing and I'm in love with it. 1st trip here I got the pork medallions, which were good in flavor, but dry. 2nd trip here I got the chicken dish... This was not very good at all, bland and super dry again. I was about ready to write this place off on the food, but my in-laws insisted I give it another try. My last trip here was for work, and I decided to try the burger... It was really good! :) I was happy to finally find something that was juicy and full of flavor. I guess I'll be sticking to the burgers/steaks when I come here from now on. I can only hope that my opinion of this place will get even better with time.
(3)Eric K.
Nice diverse menu. Staff are friendly and responsive. Opted for the salmon which tasted great though a hair overlooked. Sides were and looked delicious.
(4)Brian T.
Went with my family with a total of 11 of us. They were set up to easily handle our group. Staff was courteous and helpful. Definitely knew the whiskey. Reason for the low rating was that the ribs I ordered were served cold. The waiter took them back and brought the same ones back after heating/reheating them. When I actually ate them they were bland and tasted as if they were boiled not smoked. The fries were really good though. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals. The waiter did not charge me for my dinner and comped a desert. The waiter commented that the ribs are usually really good. Definitely not on this day.
(3)Tim S.
First experience here was interesting. The seating is cramped and the atmosphere is incredibly noisy; it was difficult to even hold a conversation at our own table. The food was pretty solid though, aside from the fact that it took several attempts by our waitress to get everyone in our party their correct dishes. The staff remained courteous in helping get everything sorted out. I thought the blue cheese au gratin potatoes were especially delicious. I do look forward to trying out more of the food. Also, for advertising as a whiskey bar, we found their selection pretty weak (as far as imports go) and overpriced. I think this place has potential but they have some serious improvements to make.
(2)Lori H.
Friendly staff. Had a mix up on food order and they definitely compensated for it. Huge tenderloins. Delicious food!! Sat at the beer tap booth. Very very good experience. Definitely will come back!
(5)Jeff S.
We had the whiskey wrap and the patty melt. They were both good. The desert was awesome apple rhubarb crumble with coffee. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food and service. Thanks Amber. Make a reservation if you want a tap table.
(5)Andi C.

Nice diverse menu. Staff are friendly and responsive. Opted for the salmon which tasted great though a hair overlooked. Sides were and looked delicious.

Friendly staff. Had a mix up on food order and they definitely compensated for it. Huge tenderloins. Delicious food!! Sat at the beer tap booth. Very very good experience. Definitely will come back!

We had the whiskey wrap and the patty melt. They were both good. The desert was awesome apple rhubarb crumble with coffee. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food and service. Thanks Amber. Make a reservation if you want a tap table.

We were with a group and the food came to the table with varying temperatures. Steak seamed like a good choice for an entree. My only real complaint is that the waitstaff and bartenders were not very knowledgeable about their whiskey and beer selection---surprising for a place called whiskey road.

Great food and service. What more could you ask for! You should call for resevations. They are pretty busy right now. If you walk in they will get you seated as soon as they can. Food is also available at the bar.

Superb food and service. Our table had: Ribeye: great flavor and done as ordered. Cheesy potatoes. Great flavor. Ribs: Meaty and done right. Excellent flavor. Fries: Fresh cut. Tasted awesome. Tenderloin: big with great flavor breaded right. Reasonably priced and great service. Highly Recommended!!
